Ergon Bakehouse by Urban Soul Project

Ergon Bakehouse offers a unique experience celebrating the art of baking and hospitality in the heart of Athens, housed in a heritage building from the early 20th century, designed by Vasilis Tsagris. Formerly residential units and offices, the building now hosts a multifaceted destination• a unique place for making and baking pastries, a retail space, an eatery, and accommodation.

Visitors can explore the building’s historic charm, with original features like plaster decorations and an antique staircase integrated into a modern hotel setting. The ground floor features the 72H Artisanal Bakery, where guests can witness the baking process, as the historic window frames provide a picturesque view of this open-plan workshop.

Centrally located, the hotel reception welcomes guests to 29 spacious rooms designed to reflect the building’s heritage and bakery theme. Each room boasts thoughtful touches, such as the “onda,” a deep, recessed sofa, that serves as both an additional bed and a lounge area, enhancing the room’s functional and aesthetic appeal.

Throughout the building, the detailed design creates a cohesive atmosphere, reflecting the elements of a bakery and a professional kitchen: dark firebrick, wall paneling, large stainless steel counters, and linen fabrics contribute to the decor and echo the process of sourdough maturation. The adjust lighting, along with the internal shading devices, create a calm atmosphere. Artwork by Stratis Tavlaridis and Nikos Handolias, inspired by the craft of baking and the innovative 72H Artisanal Bakery, further and enrich the guest experience.
