A.P.C. store by Laurent Deroo

In sync with Saudi Arabia‘s accelerated modernisation in recent years, an increasing number of foreign brands have opened up shop in the country’s major cities, and A.P.C. is one of the latest to arrive. In collaboration with local retail group Beside, the Paris-based brand has opened a standalone store in Riyadh, its very first in the Middle East. The retail space occupies a 150 sqm. (1,615 sq.ft.) unit on the premises of Solitaire, an upscale shopping centre in the city’s northern Al Sahafah neighbourhood. Rubbling shoulders with the boutiques of peers, such as Paul Smith,, DIESEL, Lululemon, ASICS and Maje. As always, the interior design has been created by French architect and longtime collaborator Laurent Deroo. An elongated sone display, with a strikingly serrated side, and also embedded seating, storage and a sales counter, unapologetically takes centre stage. The volume beautifully ties in with the tile flooring a window display. Lacquered floor-to-ceiling timber poles demarcate the retail space, and attached to it are panels, display racks and shelving units with built-in tubular lights. On one side, a timber-clad volume accommodates the store’s fitting rooms. Additional lighting comprises rows of ceiling lights, in addition to decorative brass pendant lights which add character to the setting. The new A.P.C. store carries men’s and women’s apparel, accessories and bags. © superfuture
