It isn’t only in Italy where Fare la bella figura is an innate skill, the Japanese know a thing or two about keeping up appearances. Unsurprisingly, top-notch Italian brands have always resonated well in the Land of the Rising Sun, and Brioni is no exception. The renowned Rome-based tailoring brand has recently relocated its store in Tokyo‘s bustling Ginza shopping district to new premises. The interior design, created by Brioni‘s in-house design team, features the brand’s latest retail design codes. Divided into two spaces, the design of the front of the store is anchored by a large hand-woven carpet entitle Rada, or ‘roadstead’ in English, it was selected with inspiration taken from the moats and canals that once spread across the Ginza neighbourhood.
Dark timber panelling with recessed shelving and display space forms a backdrop for a variety of matching timber furnishings and carefully selected vintage pieces from the 1950s to the 1970s, and extends to the back room. The vintage furniture has been designed by leading designers, such as Peter Marino, Ico Parisi, Franco Albini, Franca Helg, Antonio Piva and Hisao Hanabusa. A map of Ginza in the Edo period by artist Toshiyuki Morioka adds a distinct Japanese element to the setting. The new Brioni store carries a wide range of collections, including formal wear, leisure wear, leather goods, shoes, accessories, and fragrances. Additionally, men’s bespoke services are available, and the store also stocks the La Donna women’s collection. © superfuture
